1925 - today
Armando Simoni started his workshops as a supplier of pen parts, mainly for Parker Pens
in the early twenties, then in 1925 started production of his own pens, branded OMAS,
Officine Meccaniche Armando Simoni. First pens made followed, not surprisingly, the
Duofold pens, the Omas Pens also followed the shape of the Waterman 42. Famous Omas pens
are: The Doctor pens, with a themometer inside the barrel - the Zerollo with two nibs and
two inkreservoirs inside one barrel. 1932 Omas launched the Art Deco Pen Extra, 12 sided
pens, made from celluloid, following the design of the Art Deco and of Wahl Eversharps
Doric. Other important pens: The Omas Lucens, 1936, with a vacuum filler mechanism and the
361,( 1950) with hooded nib. The flexilitiy of the nib could be adjusted by turning the
small cap, covering the nib.
Omas was among the first to start using celluloid again in the early nineties. |
